About The Platform

Welcome to Visible Platform's newsletter, The Platform.

This newsletter was created because we’re a small and dynamic startup, constantly evolving and updating our response to harassment on public transport.

When we founded Visible Platform, we only covered the London Underground and our form was a little bit too long, considering we wanted to create something super quick and easy to use.

Since then, we have expanded our form in cover a range of cities in the UK. We have updated our form and now it only takes 3 minutes to share your story. This was important to us because we know when harassment happens, you often just want to move on with your day. Taking the burden off your shoulders is core to our mission.

We have also been endorsed by the British Transport Police because they know the data we’re collecting is important, and we are the only organisation to put the stories of those who actually experienced the harassment first.

A lot can happen in a short time when you’re a startup, and we wanted to keep our supporters in the loop with all these exciting developments. We are also inspired by open organisations, who share their strategic development widely for other to learn from. This newsletter is an important step in us being an open organisation as well.

What is Visible Platform

Visible Platform was founded to provide women and non-binary folk with a platform to share their experiences of harassment on public transport. We’ve created an easy-to-use online report form, which let’s you describe your experiences, free from judgement or “red" tape” to cross.

We believe that every incident matters and we will never dismiss anyone’s story. We give you the space to tell us every part of the incident you think is necessary, and we will never undermine your experience.

Data drives policy and our reporting form provides a space for us to listen to, and the collect testimonies of public harassment. This will enable us to close the data gap and ultimately end harassment on public transport - with your help.

SHARE YOUR STORY

Who are you?

Visible Platform is the brain child of two frustrated and determined best friends, Liv & Cait. We are young women who have experienced harassment on public transport, shrugged it off and gotten on with our days. We have changed our wardrobes, we have taken taxis instead of travelling along, we have found different commutes. And we are done.

Our backgrounds are in politics and law, and we saw an opportunity to use data to inform policy change and end the normalisation of harassment on public transport. We created Visible Platform to make reporting an incident as easy as checking your phone or updating social media.

There’s power in numbers

When you add your voice you contribute to a movement bigger than yourself. We are a collective and we will make collective change. Connect with us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.
